Recital

It seemed important to capture the recital on tape given that Marley had been swearing all week that this was her last week of keyboard (ever). She had been saying for much longer than that that keyboard was the most boring thing (ever) -- "worse than church." And I'm not sure at what point I heard myself using that most desperate of parental phrases "someday you'll thank me for this," but it was then that I knew for sure that our keyboard days were numbered. She of course swore she would never thank me (ever) and though I wracked my brain to try to imagine the sort of conditions under which she actually might thank me for forcing keyboard lessons, I couldn't come up with any plausible scenario. I imagined the parents of Tiger Woods, pleading with him to stick with the game... while he threw his elementary size golf clubs across the room, and I felt doubtful that this ever happened. Tiger knew - Tiger wanted it. Marley knows too (but we've got all summer for her to change her mind ;-)
